Are you kidding me?
I called Vegas yesterday to find out about my COBRA stuff. My chance at signing up for it ends on the 21st of this month, so I’m getting a bit panicky.
Their records indicate they mailed it to me on September 19th, six days after I resigned my position at LVMPD. So why didn’t I get it? Well lo and behold, they sent it to an address I have NOT lived at in over 2 1/2 years. I would say that’s why I didn’t get it.
They say they mailed it to my address when I was living with my BFF and her three sons. I told them I haven’t lived there in years and asked them to send me the package immediately here at my current address. They said they would.
So now I have 14 days to receive the paperwork, fill it out and turn it back in before the deadline of taking COBRA. If I had done better at the Fire Secretary test and was in the hiring process, I wouldn’t bother with the COBRA because it’s a civil service job and my new insurance would start immediately.
Since I’m not getting that job immediately, I need insurance to last me. Most private sector places make you wait 60-90 days to get insurance after getting hired. I need the COBRA. It sucks, but I’m dealing with it.
I’m all ready for the job fair today. I got the printed registration confirmation, my Google map of how to get there and my copies of my resume. I probably made WAY too many copies of the resume, however, I’d rather have tons more than I need than not enough, ya know?
The job fair is 10am to 3pm today, so I’ll be jumping in the shower soon to head on over to the Papa John’s Stadium or whatever it’s called. I want to get there early, so I can get this done and over with. I’m nervous as hell and really don’t know what to expect from it. Wish me luck!
I commented on a blog today that made me think of my dad, cause dad and the person who does the blog live in the same state. I need to call dad today, let him know how I’m doing and give him my new address.
Until next time….
