I will always remember. Will you?

I’m posting this 5 hours early here in Las Vegas, NV. It will remain here most of the day on 9/11.

Last year, I did this post about Stephen Mulderry, who died in the attack on the World Trade Center six years ago today. What makes it a little different this year is that it falls on the same day of the week this year.

I’ve re-read that post and the comments on several occasions throughout this past year and I still get misty eyed reading it. I still make sure I never forget what that day means to so many people.

I still look at the clock, almost twice a day at 9:11. Whether the morning or the evening, I tend to look at the clock at that time. It sometimes freaks me out, sometimes it doesn’t.

People forget things. I find this disturbing. I think it’s important for all of us to remember those we lost on September 11, 2001. I have no opinion on the war in Iraq or Afghanistan really. It just is what it is, whether I’m for it or against it doesn’t matter today. We’re allowed to agree or disagree with it, that’s what makes this country beautiful. The freedom to express ourselves no matter what, without fear of repercussions, is an awesome thing. I think that is taken advantage of. Not just by people who hate the Americans, but by some of us Americans ourselves.

Today I ask that each of us remember the people who died in the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and in the field in Pennsylvania; regardless of your politic beliefs on the war or the President. I believe it’s important to remember them because if we forget, then we forget the anger, the fear, the sadness and the grief. And to me, that’s just not the right thing to do. So for me, I will always remember and I will always take a moment in my day to pray for those we lost and those loved ones left behind.

To all my friends in law enforcement, fire fighting and especially EMS, keep fighting the good fight. What you do is good and righteous and I thank you every day from the bottom of my heart for that. Without you, we would be lost.

Until next time….keep remembering.
