The Soda Stand

Welcome to the Soda Stand’s first Blogathon. I was blogging last year during the ‘thon, however, I did not participate other than to help Laci stay awake as long as I could. I don’t think I lasted very long, but she says I did. So I’ll take her word for it. LOL

AFAN is a local charity here in Southern Nevada, that provides support and advocacy for adults and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS in Southern Nevada. The organization works to reduce HIV infection through prevention education. This prevention education is to eliminate fear, prejudice and the stigma associated with the disease.

This is a cause near and dear to my heart, as I personally know two people infected with HIV. One of them gets his medications through AFAN.

The History of AFAN:

Founded in 1984, Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN) is the oldest and largest AIDS service organization in the state of Nevada. Nearly two thousand men, women and children infected with HIV are registered as clients with our agency. AFAN provides direct client service programs, food programs, prevention and education programs, and community outreach. It is the mission of our client service programs to enhance the physical health and psychosocial wellness of the individuals we serve, while promoting their dignity and improving the quality of their lives.

I’m going to throw a few meme’s in there when I get tired of talking about myself (cause, I really do get tired of it sometimes) and I will be doing my 100 things about me over again, since a few things have changed since the last time I did it.
